Description
The Arrow Crab, also known as the Spider Crab, is a unique addition to any *saltwater aquarium. The Arrow Crab is very noticeable for its extremely long legs and arrow-shaped body. The Arrow crabs can vary in size, typically reaching up to six inches, so make sure you have enough room for this leggy crab to move around. Females are usually smaller than males.
Adaptable to reef environments, the Arrow Crab often resides in small caves or crevices within the reef. While generally hardy and long-lived, they can be predatory, occasionally preying on smaller fish and crustaceans like Banded Coral Shrimp. Their opportunistic feeding habits may lead them to explore corals or mushrooms for food, especially if their preferred diet is scarce. These crabs accept a variety of meaty, flake, and tablet foods. The Arrow Crab are known to feed on Bristle Worms in the aquarium.
When purchasing an Arrow Crab, expect sizes ranging from 1-1/4" to 4". It's important to consider their potential growth and predatory nature, ensuring your tank is suitably equipped to accommodate them. Their striking appearance and practical benefits make them an intriguing choice for seasoned aquarists.
