Description
Red Grape Kelp (Botryocladia occidentalis) is a beautiful and beneficial addition to any reef aquarium. Similar in appearance to many forms of Grape Caulerpa, this species of macroalgae is a favorite treat among many commonly kept reef inhabitants (most notably tangs, angelfishes, rabbitfishes, and a wide array of invertebrates), and can serve as a highly nutritious supplemental food source. Additionally, this species of macroalgae may also be kept in a refugium or sump to aid in nutrient export, similar to the more commonly kept Chaetomorpha. Red Grape Kelp prefers a high-light environment in conjunction with moderate nutrient levels for optimal health and growth.
