Description
Cirrhilabrus ryukyuensis
Yellow-Flanked Fairy Wrasse is a vibrant and active reef-safe wrasse native to the waters around Japan and the Ryukyu Islands. This species thrives in a peaceful, well-established marine aquarium of at least 55 gallons with plenty of rockwork for foraging and open swimming space. Males display brilliant coloration, especially during courtship, while females are more subdued but equally graceful. Feed a varied diet of high-quality frozen and prepared foods such as mysis shrimp, enriched brine shrimp, and finely chopped seafood. The Yellow-Flanked Fairy Wrasse does best with other peaceful reef inhabitants and should be provided a covered tank, as it may jump when startled. With proper care, it rewards aquarists with constant motion and stunning color transitions.
