Gomphosus is a small genus of wrasses native to Indian and Pacific Oceans. They dos great in a larger system with high water quality and high flow. Known for their elongated beak that will hold their prey as they pull them apart. Their prey are typically aquarium pests, which make them a great addition. Considered very hardy once adapted to the home aquarium; can take time to acclimate to your aquarium's water parameters. The Bird Wrasse is a very unique addition to aquariums, but is not considered reef safe. The males come in different shades of green, while females are primarily brown in color. They will grow to be about 11 inches in size and will need an aquarium with substantial swimming space. The Bird Wrasse inhabits coral rich areas of lagoons and seaward reefs in the Indo-Pacific up to 35 meters deep.
