Blue Hermit Crab

The Blue Hermit Crab (AKA Blue Leg Hermit Crab) is a standout addition to any *saltwater aquarium, thanks to its unique bright blue legs with black banding and its eye-catching orange antennae. Its not just about looks though; this crab is also incredibly useful for keeping your tank clean.

Hermit crabs make their home in empty shells in the aquarium, and have an interesting
behavior of switching shells, upgrading to a bigger size as they grow. As the hermit crab
crawls around the tank they drag their shells and stir up the sand. The Blue Hermit Crab
plays a crucial role in aerating the sand bed and is a valuable member of your General
Clean Up Crew.

Blue Hermit Crab are also algae consumers and will diligently eat algae off your
aquarium rocks, including troublesome green hair algae and cyanobacteria, helping to
keep your rockwork clean. In tanks with lower algae availability, it will appreciate
supplemental feeding with dried seaweed.
