Known for their curious nature, these wrasses are active swimmers—so be sure to provide plenty of open space for swimming as well as rock work, and sandy areas for exploring, hiding, and resting. They can be a bit territorial, especially in smaller aquariums or when housed with similarly sized or shaped fish. It's best to pair them with tank mates that won’t be easily harassed. A secure, tightly fitting lid is a must—these fish are expert jumpers and will take flight if given the chance. Feeding is easy, as they'll eagerly accept a variety of carnivorous foods like fresh or frozen mysis shrimp, squid, clams, and high-quality marine flakes or pellets made for carnivores. Reaching up to 6 inches in length, the Mexican Rainbow Wrasse requires a minimum tank size of 75 gallons.
