Aquacultured Moon Jellyfish are captivating invertebrates that require specialized care, particularly in the form of Kreisel-style aquariums. These circular tanks are specifically engineered to keep jellyfish suspended in a gentle, continuous flow, preventing them from being pulled into filtration systems. By creating a smooth, circular current-often referred to as a “gyre”-Kreisel tanks keep both the jellyfish and their food circulating safely through the display (commonly available through retailers like Petco). Moon Jellyfish are known for their delicate, translucent appearance. Their outer bell is nearly invisible, revealing a second inner structure and soft bluish markings that often resemble a four-leaf clover. Along the edges of the bell are tiny, pulsating cilia that move food toward a central, stomach-like structure, allowing them to feed efficiently in this flowing environment. While Nutramar Live Artemia nauplii are considered the best choice for optimal nutrition, alternatives like Live Tigrio Copepods, Tropic Marin Jellyfish Food and Frozen Baby Brine Shrimp also provide excellent dietary support.
