The Nahacky's Fairy Wrasse is highly sought-after reef fish prized for its exceptional coloration, active swimming behavior, and peaceful nature. Adult males display an impressive blend of magenta, violet, pink, and golden-yellow tones, often highlighted by iridescent blue markings and vivid fin coloration that become even more intense during courtship displays. Females exhibit softer shades but retain the graceful appearance characteristic of fairy wrasses. Constantly in motion, these fish spend their days swimming through the water column, investigating rockwork, and searching for small prey. An aquarium with abundant live rock, open swimming space, and numerous hiding places is essential to provide both security and opportunities for natural behavior. This species typically reaches about 4.5 inches (11 cm) in length and is best maintained in aquariums of 70 gallons or larger. Nahacky's Fairy Wrasses are generally peaceful and compatible with a wide variety of reef-safe tankmates, although dominant males may occasionally display territorial behavior toward other fairy wrasses. A secure, tight-fitting lid is strongly recommended, as this species is an excellent jumper and may leap from uncovered aquariums when startled. In the wild, Cirrhilabrus nahackyi inhabits deeper outer reef slopes and coral-rich environments in the western Pacific, particularly around Fiji and nearby island regions. They are commonly found hovering above reef structures, feeding on zooplankton and other tiny organisms carried by ocean currents. Carnivorous by nature, this species thrives on a varied diet consisting of mysis shrimp, enriched brine shrimp, copepods, finely chopped seafood, and high-quality frozen or prepared marine foods. Frequent feedings help maintain vibrant coloration, strong immune function, and overall vitality. Considered completely reef-safe, Nahacky's Fairy Wrasse does not harm corals or ornamental invertebrates, making it an outstanding addition to reef aquariums where its striking colors, rarity, and constant activity create a truly spectacular display.
