Juveniles display a blue lower body with a black spot on the mid-dorsal fin and a dark blotch at the base of the tail. As they grow, the tail blotch fades into a yellow crescent, and their body shifts to a vivid green, highlighted with bright markings on the face and fins. Their coloration can also change with mood or social dynamics—dominant individuals often appear more vibrant, while stressed or submissive fish may show duller tones. To thrive, Lunare Wrasses need plenty of open space for swimming, along with rockwork and sandy areas for hiding, exploring, and resting. They can be territorial, especially in smaller tanks or when housed with similar-sized or shaped species, so choose tank mates carefully. A secure, tight-fitting lid is essential—they’re skilled jumpers and will leap if given the chance.
