Description
Reef Octopus Classic CR-100 Calcium Reactor
The Reef Octopus Classic CR-100 (SKU: CR-CV-OCT-CR100) is an automated, highly efficient aragonite-dissolving reactor system designed to stabilize and supplement calcium, alkalinity, and essential trace elements in marine reef aquariums up to 150 gallons. Maintaining optimal ionic balance manually becomes a grueling task as hard stony corals (SPS and LPS) mature and expand. The CR-100 replaces the volatility of multi-part daily liquid dosing by using pressurized carbon dioxide (CO2) to safely drop the internal chamber pH, melting crushed ancient coral skeletons back into their raw, bio-available mineral states.
Constructed from premium, heavy-duty cast acrylic, the CR-100 relies on an advanced reverse-flow fluid layout. The integrated Aquatrance 1200 recirculation pump continuously pushes acidic water from the bottom of the 4-inch chamber upward. This configuration ensures that the CO2 gas remains completely dissolved and distributed, maximizing contact time with the aragonite media while preventing the substrate from packing together into a solid brick. Complete with a modular screw-off lid, a functional bubble counter, and an integrated probe holder, this compact workhorse is the definitive upgrade for low-maintenance coral growth.
Key Features
Automated Skeletal Supplementation: Provides balanced ratios of calcium, carbonate hardness, strontium, and magnesium simultaneously.
Aquatrance 1200 Recirculation: Keeps the internal water loop moving consistently to eliminate dead zones inside the media column.
Recirculating CO2 Geometry: Recycles unused gas pockets trapped inside the upper neck, minimizing overall CO2 bottle consumption.
Probe Integration Ready: Port allows a standalone pH monitor or controller probe to monitor internal levels without risking leaks.
Effortless Plumbing Taps: Employs industrial-grade 1/4-inch push-connect fittings for precise incoming feed and outgoing effluent tracking.
