Description
Cirrhilabrus beauperryi
Wrasse belonging to this genus are some of the most beautiful of wrasses. Beau’s Fairy Wrasse should be added to aquariums with plenty of caves and resting areas as they do not bury themselves in the sand but instead will create a cocoon from mucus, similar to Parrot Fish. Cirrhilabrus Wrasse are known to be good jumpers and therefore should have a tight-fitting lid. When first introduced to the aquarium they may hide for several days but will begin to appear more once they are comfortable in their new surroundings. Beau’s Fairy Wrasse are purplish red with a blue belly, caudal peduncle, lower dorsal and upper anal fins. Their coloration will vary depending on age, sex, collection area or courtships. Beau’s Fairy Wrasse are carnivores and benefit from a diverse diet consisting of finely chopped frozen and prepared marine foods for carnivores such as mysis, squid, shrimp, or clams. Regular small feedings 2 - 3 times a day to ensure optimum health. These Wrasses can grow up to 3 inches. It's recommended to house them in aquariums of 50 gallons or larger. In their natural habitat, Beau’s Fairy Wrasse are commonly found near shallow lagoon rubble areas at depths of up to 100 feet.
