Matted "Aiptasia Eating" Leatherjacket Filefish, also known as Bristletail Filefish, are well-regarded for their usefulness in controlling pest anemones, such as Aiptasia, in reef aquariums. Known for their generally peaceful temperament, they make great additions to reef environments. However, it’s important to note that males can become territorial towards one another, so it's best to keep a single male with multiple females to ensure harmony within the tank. With their unique textured body and camouflaging ability, these fish are skilled at blending into the surroundings of weedy or rocky areas. Acreichthys tomentosus are omnivores with a diverse diet that includes small crustaceans, mysis shrimp, and algae-based foods. To maintain optimal health and vibrant coloration, offer them a varied diet with multiple feedings per day. These Filefish can grow up to around 5 inches and do well in aquariums of at least 30 gallons, where they have ample space to swim and explore. In the wild, they can be found throughout the Indo-Pacific region, frequently inhabiting weedy lagoons and protected reef areas at depths up to 50 feet.
