Cirrhilabrus rhomboidalis
Wrasse belonging to this genus are some of the most beautiful of wrasses. Rhomboid Fairy Wrasse should be added to aquariums with plenty of caves and resting areas as they do not bury themselves in the sand but instead will create a cocoon from mucus, similiar to Parrot Fish. Cirrhilabrus Wrasse are known to be good jumpers and therefore should have a tight fitting lid. When first introduced to the aquarium they may hide for several days but will begin to appear more once they are comfortable in their new surroundings. Rhomboid Wrasse begin life being yellow with purple stripes on their head, as they begin to mature into males their color deepens and their heads will begin to take on a slight blue coloration that continues to intensify as the males mature. Rhomboidalis Wrasse are carnivores and benefit from a diverse diet consisting of finely chopped frozen and prepared marine foods for carnivores such as mysis, squid, shrimp, or clams. Regular small feedings 2 - 3 times a day to ensure optimum health. These Wrasse can grow up to 3 inches in size. It's recommended to house them in aquariums of 60 gallons or larger. In their natural habitat, Rhomboid Wrasse are commonly found near steep outer reefs with rubble bottoms at depths of up to 130 feet.
