Description
Pomacanthus annularis
Angelfish come in a large array of colors, patterns and sizes that make them very sought-after. Unlike Centropyge angels, this genus is known for having large adult sizes. The Annularis Angel will be the crown jewel of your aquarium. This beautiful fish should be the only angelfish in the aquarium because they are aggressive towards others. The Annularis Angel like all Angelfish in this genus are hermaphroditic. It is not possible to tell a male from a female by looking at them. To keep them happy, provide an environment with substantial hiding places and swimming space. Rockwork is essential for hiding spaces and it provides algae for grazing. They maybe more shy at first but give them time to acclimate and they will begin to feel at home. Like most angelfish, the Annularis are not the best reef candidate because they nip at polyps and clam mantles. Be sure to provide a balanced diet of frozen meaty foods and high-quality dry foods and vegetables. They will grow to be a foot in size and will need an aquarium of 220 gallons when full grown. The Annularis Angelfish is from the Indo-West Pacific inhabiting coastal reefs up to 60 meters deep.
